When I decided to start a blog ten months ago, I wasn’t sure who or IF anyone would have interest in reading it. I have never been one to journal, although I have been vigilant in archiving family photos via scrapbooking. These albums are lacking in stories – stories behind the photos – the tale of why, where, and when.
My mom kept journals documenting mom and dad’s travel adventures in their motorhome, but the photos are in boxes and the journals not easily legible. I would love to retrace some of my parents trips…..thus, began my blog – photos with a story!
Just like so many other bloggers, I started this blog to keep family up to date on our travels. Much to my surprise, blogging has turned into so much more than keeping family updated. I feel I’ve become part of a community….this community of bloggers.
Along the way, I have had the pleasure of interacting with people from around the world. I love this new-found hobby and the friends I’ve made. I have even had the sincere pleasure of meeting a couple of blogging buddies face to face….how fun!
Back in September a couple of followers nominated me for awards. Well, life happens and I apologize to NMNPHX and Front Range Scribbles for not acknowledging sooner.
Nicole over at NMNPHX nominated me for the Beautiful Blogger Award and most recently nominated me for her Spotlight Award. Thank you Nicole. Be sure and check out her blog. I particularly enjoy her take on SPAM.
Now you all know by now, there are rules to accepting these awards……ah, the real reason it’s taken me so long to acknowledge. Thank goodness Nicole’s Spotlight Award comes with no rules attached. Did I already say, “Thank you, Nicole?”
The rules for the Beautiful Blogger Award……
- copy the award logo and place it in your post
- thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
- tell seven things about yourself
- nominate 7 other bloggers for their own award and comment on their blogs to let them know.
I’ve nominated the following blogs for the Beautiful Blogger Award
- TBN Ranch
- Images by T. Dashfield
- Photos from the Loonybin
- Small House/ BIG GARDEN
- Joy in the Moments
- Through My Lens
- The Photographic Journey of bulldog
As to the seven things about myself, keep reading……
Front Range Scribbles nominated me for the Sunshine Award. This fellow Coloradoan shares photos, information, and stories about life in Colorado. Be sure and stop by his blog.
The rules are similar……..
- Copy the award logo and paste it in your post
- thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
- nominate 14 other bloggers for their own award
- Answer the following ten questions – things about yourself
- Who is your favorite philosopher? Umm, I’ll have to think about that!
- What is your favorite number? Can’t say that I have a favorite number!
- What is your favorite animal? Aside from dogs, I like cotton tail bunnies!
- What are your Facebook and Twitter? Don’t participate…..really!
- What is your favorite time of day? I love mornings – love watching the sunrise!
- What was your favorite vacation? I’m very fortunate to be able to travel extensively, thus there is no way I can pick a favorite vacation.
- What is your favorite physical activity? Obviously – hiking!
- What is your favorite non-alcholic drink? Coffee….love a cup of hot black coffee while watching the sunrise!
- What is your favorite flower? Tulips – the tulip festival in Holland, Michigan is a must for any tulip lover – amazing fields of colorful tulips as far as one can see!
- What is your passion? Well that’s obvious – travel
So here are the fourteen blogs I’ve nominated for the Sunshine Award……

Congrats on all those gorgeous awards Ingrid!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. 🙂
Congratulations on your well deserved awards and congratulations to all those remarkable bloggers who received your nomination!!! I am celebrating…
Thanks…..have Merry Christmas!
Ingrid, thanks very much for nominating thinkingcowgirl! I don’t do awards either…but this has spurred me on to make a list of the blogs I follow and put them on the blog…have been meaning to do this since June!! Thanks.
The award posts are always so time consuming but I do like to note other blogs I find interesting. I never tire of your cow photos! Happy Holidays 🙂
Thank you! Like the burros!
Hope all is well. You’ve been on my mind. The burros were way cute…..at Lake Pleasant.
Congratulations on the awards Ingrid. Your photos are just lovely. 🙂
Thanks LuAnn. I hope you’re enjoying San Diego even though the weather appears to be less than perfect. What are your plans in Feb?
Heading to AZ to visit family and friends.
Well if your interested, keep us posted. We’ll be meandering around AZ most of Feb. Postponing TX for a bit.
We would love to meet. I have to admit that I was a wee bit envious that the Lowe’s got to meet you and I hadn’t yet. 😦
LOL…..I’m sure we’ll meet up yet!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who struggles with answering questions attached to awards! Enjoy the spotlight…and the AZ sunshine! Even with the clouds and rain today…it still felt mild outside. The sunshine will be back shortly.
No you’re not the only one who struggles with those questions. These award posts are quite time consuming. That lovely AZ sunshine is already peeking through!
Thank you so much for the award Ingrid! It means so much coming from you!!!!
Well you deserve it. Your hiking and weight loss journey is quite inspiring. Happy Trails 🙂
Hey!! Maybe there is an award for most politically incorrect and sickest humor…I may have a chance at that one…All kidding aside, you are a wonderful blogger and mix photography with philosophy intertwined to create wonderful visuals…Keep it up!
Thanks for such a nice compliment. If you ever switch over to wordpress, I’ll be sure and nominate you for an award….I know there’s an “appropriate” one out there for you! Enjoy the holidays 🙂
Isn’t it great how your world and circle of friends expand with blogging? Congrats on the awards! Happy blogging! -Maureen
Yes it’s great and thanks. Hey did you notice I nominated you for the Sunshine Award? I didn’t get around to letting everyone know prior to the post. I think we need to get a different router for our internet. Happy blogging to you too Maureen. I love following your posts and the wonderful places you’ve been to.
Thanks Ingrid! :^)
Thanks for the award, Ingrid. I love that donkey picture…so ASStounding. I’d love to see that tulip festival. I’d probably break down and cry for joy.
The fields and fields of tulips are simply stunning. The donkeys near Lake Pleasant AZ were way too cute. 🙂
Congrats – You DESERVE It – love your travel, adventures and the joy you bring to blogging!!! Have a Great One:)
Thank you. Appreciate the kind comment!
No matter the reason, glad you started posting. Now that Eko and I have settled down for a while it is nice to get to experience other parts of the country vicariously through your adventures.
Traveling is always fun, but it’s also nice to settle down for awhile. Enjoy your Chicago winter 🙂
Wow for once i can express my gratitude in person! Yeah, thank you neighbor. We had fun last night and without Al’s flashlight we would have been mugged by the Javelina’s…:)
Wasn’t it cool to see those Javelina’s? It’s tons of fun meeting a blogging buddy in person. I’m sure you have a glass of wine at your place with my name on it….LOL
But you are blogging to keep your family updated… it’s just your family got bigger… Thank you for the nomination, I don’t do the awards thing, but do award myself some of my own every now and then… I still keep all the nomination blogs in a special file so I can go and remember who gave me what… you do deserve the awards and I do love your blog.. I’m just one of the family following you on your trips…
Many of the blogs I follow don’t do the Award thing, but I have to mention my “family” members. Thanks for tagging along….the adventure will continue soon. I’ve been experiencing a little writers block. Stay tuned!
The cactus silhouette is amazing!!! Wow. And I love the three donkeys. Too cute. Congrats on all your awards and thank-you for nominating me. Sunshine and gerber daisies are a few of my favorite things. 🙂
The donkeys were way too cute and they posed for me! The AZ sunrises and sunsets have been beautiful. Thanks for the comment 🙂
Thank you for the award! You are making me so jealous with your southwestern shots. I wish I was there now because 24 degrees is not my idea of a fun time!!!
Well Friday we’ll have a cold front come in….highs ONLY in the 60’s. Agree 24 degrees is not fun. We were fortunate to escape the cold and snow in CO. Your photos are so beautiful, I just HAD to nominate you!
Awwwww thank you again but you’re killing me with highs ONLY in the 60’s!
