On this Mother’s Day, let us celebrate the women who shape(d) our lives. Whether celebrating our own mother, a maternal figure, or the collective spirit of motherhood, this occasion invites us to express gratitude and celebrate a special bond.

Even when they depart, mothers linger. Their laughter echoes in our minds, and their advice whispers in our ears.

Sometimes, words fail. Yet, a mother understands. She deciphers silence and interprets sighs. Her touch says, “I’m here.” In her embrace, answers are found without questions.
Mothers sacrifice sleep, dreams, and personal aspirations for the well-being of her children. They navigate sleepless nights and juggle responsibilities.

Not a day goes by that I don’t miss my mother. I am who I am because of her.

She taught me that I was capable of doing and being anything I wanted. She taught me not to allow fear to hold me back yet to always use my head; common sense and logic should always rule.

Her advice and lessons continue to resonate with me long after her passing.

She and I shared a love for travel, an interest in birds, plus so much more. I’m truly blessed to have had such a strong and worldly mother.

A mother’s love is a special bond that transcends time.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Today’s Sunday Stills photo challenge prompt is “cobalt blue“. Wishing you all a wonderful day, and thank you for stopping by for a visit. 🙂

Ingrid,
A very well-written tribute to your Mom. I’m blessed to have mine still with us at age 96 with a mind still sharp, but a body that is struggling from taking good care of my brother and me for many years. We’re in Galveston, Texas where the weather is bad, and the mosquitoes are atrocious. Hopefully, I’ll get the camera out before these pests carry me off. Your pictures are great! Have a delightful weekend. Joe

How awesome for her to make it to 96. Hopefully, she’s got several more good years in her. We loved our month long visit to Galveston but that was during a Nov/Dec time frame when mosquitoes weren’t an issue. That said, I’m glad we scheduled a month because the weather was inclement half the time. Get that camera snapping!

I LOVED your words and your photos. My mom has been gone 20 years and I just think of all the things I wish I could do with her and she could be a part of. She was amazing.

Well shared thoughts interspersed with precious photos. I am sure your Mom would be proud of the woman you are.
I feel my Mom still with me in my thoughts and I knew how much loved me and how proud she was of her son.

You are absolutely right Ingrid 🙂. Moms are superwomen! Beautiful reflections 🙂. I love capturing them too when I can but mostly don’t get them as great as yours!

Catching those calm days to capture those smooth water reflections is a matter of luck – being in the right place at the right time. I love it when it happens and make the most of it by giving the camera a good workout. 😊

You’re welcome, Ingrid! You are wise to keep your data backed up on an external drive, I do the same thing. I use Dropbox for storage but occasionally do a huge download from them to my external SSD.

After years of traveling and more photos than I can count, I have multiple external hard drives just in case one of those fails. 😁

I’m honored that you included the color challenge into your post that reflects on your relationship with your mother, Ingrid. The images are stunning and I’m so glad to read she was an integral part of your love of nature and photography. I miss my mom, too, she was a lot like yours in her love for the outdoors and her dragging us all over California and the PNW back in the day. 🙂
The pelican is gorgeous! My fave is your opening image of the mountain reflection. Happy mother’s day to you and enjoy your kids and grandkids!

When I noted the cobalt blue challenge, I immediately knew the images I wanted to share, but wasn’t sure about the story. Then I realized it was Mother’s Day and the post starting coming together. Those of us that had great mom’s are truly blessed. Not all are as fortunate.
Hope you have a wonderful day, Terri 🌸

You are so right, Ingrid. My brother and I were two of the lucky ones, and our mom’s wonderfully positive impact on our lives influenced the way we raised our kids, so her legacy continues. This is a stunning collection of photos!

Thank you, Tim. Although AZ has lots of birds, I truly miss my adventures to the TX Gulf Coast. Plus, that’s where my parents wintered making the coast and birding there even more special.
