Landscape photography is more than just pixels, in my humble opinion. It’s about capturing the beauty unfolding in front of me. Capturing the awe. Capturing the feeling. Capturing a moment in time.

I’m not always successful at my quest, but even if those sights and moments don’t resonate in the photograph exactly as hoped, the memories are indelibly etched in my mind.

“Savoring the moment, one view at a time.”

During my travels, I have witnessed some amazing scenery and experienced some special moments.

Photographing the natural beauty around me is a way for me to share the stunning vistas, majestic mountains, serene lakes, and other unique sights that make up the diverse landscapes that I have had the privilege of exploring.

“The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.” – Chris McCandless

I find landscape photography to be a wonderful way to connect with nature. Being in nature makes me feel alive, and I enjoy sharing its beauty with others via my photographs.

The world is full of stunning landscapes just waiting to be photographed. What are we waiting for? Let’s get out there and capture the view, capture the moment, capture what we feel.

The prompt for this week’s Sunday Still’s photo challenge is Landscapes. Although I wouldn’t necessarily say these are my best landscape images, I will say they are some of my more memorable moments. As I view each photograph, I’m taken back to that location, back to that moment in time, and can recall the emotional impact and joy I felt. Travel can be transformative, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to experience so many exceptional places and moments. 🙂

I’d say all of these photographs and locations are stunning and I recognize some of my favorite places of the West. Someone recently asked what my favorite place in the Americas was so far (it’s a question that we get asked a lot and I usually have a complicated wander). This time, I thought long and hard and had to admit that I really, really love the desert Southwest in the US when it comes to scenery.

I too am partial to the southwest, but this time of year, I’m missing the lush landscape of the upper Midwest or the majestic Rocky Mountains. Hmm, it’s hard to pick a favorite. Hope you’re enjoying your time in the northeast.

I recognize some of those places from your travels. Your eye for a scene is remarkable, but there are probably others on the card that didn’t make it. Love watching your travels over the years and continuing to follow you forward. Stay well and keep moving!

Wonderful Photos. I always have trouble with a balanced exposure between the sky and the landscape. Still have not figured it out. My phone does fine, it is my camera that is the challenge. Always enjoy your posts

Thank you! I too have struggled with sky exposure with my camera. Fortunately, editing in Lightroom has allowed me to play around with those exposures somewhat. I still have a lot to learn in the editing dept but do my best.

Ingrid,
I became a follower because of your stunning photography, and these pictures are fabulous examples of your skills. My favorite is the image of the birds in the trees from Galveston–amazing color. Also, Lake Powell; we’re camping in Page on the way home, and am interested if the lake has any more water since our last visit. Keep that camera handy, and please stay in touch. Joe

So many wonderful memories with lovely photos keeping them alive. We often get comments about printing some of our photos, but we find with the advent of “smart” TVs, it’s so easy to turn them into digital photo frames. Creating slideshows that play on your TV is a great way to view your fabulous work without having to choose only one/few to display.
LikeLike
Yes, it’s wonderful keeping those memories alive. I never thought about using the TV as a photo frame. Humm! I love the way MonaLiza has displayed many of her images in their home, and I’ve printed a small fraction of photos to emulate what she has done.

These are amazing! I’ve been to several of these places!! And I agree with so much of what you say. I have not taken photos because I didn’t think they had great photo potential. …or I didn’t think I was good enough to do them justice. Ingrid, I loved your photos in this post and also your quote of Christopher McCandless. The last few years I have been more focused on bird photography but I have really missed the landscape photography. I hope to get back to that sometime. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Debra, I’ve always enjoyed landscape photography, especially during our RV travels. I also share your love of bird photography, but find it less enjoyable now that we live in a subdivision setting. Perhaps, one day I’ll jump back in, but for now, landscapes and flowers seem to be my focus. Happy shooting! 🌵

These are gorgeous, Ingrid. I think one of the special things about going back through amazing photographs like these is that while they convey so much feeling and emotion to the viewers, there’s a whole next level of sentiment and awe that they bring back to the person who originally took them. They capture so much more than just the scene itself.
Thank you for sharing these, brightened my day so much to see and admire them!

Ingrid, I knew I could count on you to share some beautiful landscapes with us. These are all stunning. I didn’t really get interested in photography until we started traveling around the country in our RV. My goal was to capture the memories and I’m so glad I did. Just looking at a photo of a favorite place, even if it’s not a good image, takes me back in time to the way I felt when we were there. Happy Independence Day!

I knew you could relate, Beth. Even if the photo is mediocre, I’m still glad I took it as a reminder of the sight and moment. Even though I’ve had an interest in photography for a long time, it wasn’t until we started traveling with the RV that I really dove into it and started going beyond the auto setting. Enjoy your week 🎇
