Something About Yellow

I’ve always liked the color yellow. There’s something uplifting about the color yellow that inspires a sense of happiness and has an energizing effect.

I don’t believe I could ever tire of the lovely shades of yellow found in nature, especially sunrises and sunsets.

The meaning of yellow?

Yellow stands for happiness, hope, and spontaneity. It’s the color of smiley faces and flowers. It’s a youthful color that grabs our attention.

“In the world of safe hues, like black, red, and white, yellow shouts: Look at me. I’m happy!” – Joy Sewing

Yellow is associated with sunshine, warmth, energy, and laughter. A splash of yellow on anything dull or dark can make a person feel cheerful and optimistic.

When I find myself in a bad mood, all I have to do is find a patch of yellow blooms to lift my spirits. Yep, yellow makes me happy!

Yellow can be found all around us. All we have to do is look.

There’s just something about yellow …

This week’s Sunday Stills photo theme is the color Yellow. Check out Terri’s post for more yellow inspiration. #yellow

Ingrid, you certainly represented the challenge well. Wow! I love that the composition of each photo includes yellow as a highlight and is not necessarily the central focus. Very nice.

All of your photos are stunning but there is something about the water lily that makes it my favorite!

I too like water lilies and captured that image while kayaking. I love the sound of paddling through a patch of lily pads.

When we built our house, I asked Alan to paint our kitchen ceiling yellow. My father-in-law thought it was a crazy idea. Forty plus years later, the ceiling is still yellow, and the kitchen is still the happiest room in the house!

Love that you used the yellow beak and eye of the Bald Eagle! It is, for certain, an uplifting and energizing color. It’s why I chose a soft whipped butter color for our interior walls. It brings sunshine inside on even the shortest, grayest day (or so I believe, check with me on Dec. 21 😂) Who could be sad in the company of yellow?

When I was searching for images with the color yellow, to my delight, I stumbled across my eagle images. Thus added the Eagle at the last minute.
Yes, I’ll be eager to hear how you’re doing this winter to see if the creamy warm walls make a difference.

Well, you had to go and remind me of yellow found on bald eagles! Great shot, Ingrid! Your sunrises are stunning! Yellow is indeed a happy color and adds gorgeous highlights to any image or anything found in nature. Or man-made for that matter. My fave is the pic of the sunflowers framed by the snow-capped mountains! An iconic shot in my book!

In an interesting twist, looks like we found a rental home for my dad and step-mom over in Payson. My brother drove there yesterday (one hour from Fountain Hills) and they secured the rental. Now the work begins. More later.

I’ve always loved that image with the yellow daisies with the Tetons in the background but wanted to improve it. It was taken in a hurry and when we went back a few weeks later for me to spend more time on composition, the daisies were done and dried up. At least I managed a quick capture.

Are they moving to Payson full-time? That’ll be nice for your dad to be just an hour away from your brother and especially when you come down to visit. Be sure and keep us posted if you have to return to the valley to help out. I know you’ll squeeze in a coffee break for your blogging friends. 😛

Yes, Ingrid, we are moving them full-time. They have to get our of Fire country in the Sierra foothills. We will definitely keep in touch for a blog meet-up–looking around late Sept/early October. Maybe sooner. Have a fabulous week!
