Flowers

I don’t know about you, but I love flowers. They bring a smile to my face, and have a way of brightening up my day.

Denver, Colorado

I used to enjoy gardening when we lived in a sticks and bricks home, but living a nomadic life isn’t conducive to gardening. So to fulfill my passion for flowers, I enjoy visiting public gardens of all kinds as well as seek out fields of wildflowers in nature wherever I can.

My father had flowers planted in our house. Everytime a flower blossomed we would be so happy. Amazing pics.

Your flower pics are beautiful. I too had flower gardens surrounding our stick & brick abode. My hubby & I both miss our gardens in this nomad lifestyle we live but we do enjoy visiting bontanical gardens as we travel & we always admire the wildflowers we come across in our travels. We feel the same way about birds too. We had a variety of feeding stations in our yard as well.

Seems what we gain in one area of this lifestyle, we loose in another. But I’ll admit, I don’t miss the weeding and weekly lawn care of a sticks and bricks. Plus, professional gardeners do a much better job than I ever did 😆

I’ve tried the portable flower box thing to fulfill the Gardner within me, but that was a big fail 🤣 So visits to botanical gardens along with nature’s field of wildflowers sustain my love of flowers. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photo of a magnolia … stunning.

I don’t know about staying cool…I bought me a kiddie pool to soak in when it gets too hot. I love it! It’s like a big giant bath tub and I can float on my back while looking at nature. 😁

By the way, I’m not really taking a blogging break, I’m trying to stay disciplined and focused on the project house. I’ve been doing a lot of traveling these last two years, mostly to see family and I’ve had a few other distractions as well. Needless to say, the project house got neglected and we aren’t as physically together as when we first started…takes us twice as long to get things done. Add in a couple of hurricanes and some home improvements to the house we actually live in and the whole thing just got away from us.

The good news is that I’ve taken a lot of time off over the summer so I can put in some extra hours over there. We’ve set a stiff target to complete it by the end of the year. I hope we make it. My aunt will be relocating from Virginia some time next summer or when we have it completed. I’ve been going up every other month to help her get her life and belongings in order so she can make the transition, she’s 89 now. When that all happens, my time should really free up and I’ll be able to blog regularly.

I was wondering how the house project was coming along. That was definitely a major undertaking and not a simple remodel. How sweet of you to be helping out your aunt…. you’ve been excused from blogging … temporarily 🤣

Wow, your flower shots are great!
I love flowers too, especially wildflowers! And going through my post archives I have tons of them! But I found one post that I thought fits the theme the most. When we were in Elkhart, Indiana, we followed a Heritage Trail where flowers were used to create a huge quilt design pattern! It was a work of art and a labor of love.
Scroll through the post to see them flowers 🙂

Nice entry to the theme. Around this time of year (especially when it’s hot and dusty in AZ) I start to miss the Midwest and all the lush vegetation. BUT then I think of humidity and bugs and I don’t miss it so much 😆 However, I think next summer may be time for a return visit!

Fantastic pictures, Ingrid. For us, even in a sticks and bricks home, flowers are not good: the deer would eat them (all). There are only a few shrubs and flowers they won’t nibble at. But we enjoy the deer so much. That’s our compensation.

Thanks Pit – well if you can’t have flowers in your yard, deer are a nice second choice – especially when there’s a precious fawn resting in your yard.

My pleasure. Thank you Ingrid. By the way, I currently have an older Class A motorhome that I’m constantly working on and am thinking of switching to a small travel-trailer to pull behind my Subaru. It’s interesting checking out the different styles and sizes. I want to be more lightweight and maneuverable on the road if possible.

        1. Ingrid Avatar

Being more maneuverable is why we controlled the length of 5th wheel we bought. We’re super happy with our RV but there are times being a tad smaller would be beneficial. Towing with a Subaru will really require you to go down substantially in size. Have fun shopping!
