I took a lot of photographs last month and while going through them, I realized it really is true; a picture is worth a thousand words.  Here’s a bunch of reasons why we enjoy visiting the Texas Gulf Coast…..Rockport

Running into like minded folks! Although my equipment doesn’t come close, we all share a passion for photography and the birds.
Hearing their wings as they flew over me was exhilarating. I'm ok with the fact that I didn't achieve good focus. They were moving over me relatively fast and I got a little jittery excited. Taken at 300mm and almost no cropping.

I’ve informed hubby when we make our way West, one of these years we must include a visit to the Texas Gulf Coast! Your photos are beautiful and showcase fabulously!

There’s a rustic beauty to this area that is vastly different than FL. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but it works for me.

I really enjoyed this awesome gallery of photos, Ingrid. You caught some gorgeous birds, marinas, and peaceful scenes, and really brought to life the lovely Gulf coast. The array of birds is dazzling to this birder. A whooper and a sandhill in the same frame is almost unheard of, no wonder you were excited. Thanks so much.

Around here, it’s not uncommon for young whoopers to hang out with the sandhills. Once they start mating, that’s another story. It was exciting to see the variety of birds all in one spot. Definitely the highlight of my trip 🙂

I’m convinced! In fact Joe and I have been seriously thinking about spending time in the Rockport this year. We head east this fall… our youngest son and his wife are having their first baby… and we’re thinking a stop there for the month of November/December? What do you think Ingrid…all my reading says Nov is Whooping Crane Month and a good time to go.

And yes, a picture is worth a thousand words!

The cranes usually show up in November thus timing should be good. I have a long post going out on Saturday with links to a few of my previous posts sharing more info on the area including camping. I think you’ll find it helpful. Also feel free to email me anytime. BTW…. we’ll be in Phoenix next week and stay until mid April so let me know if you’re plans include Phx.
