    1. You must and it’s really not that far….less than 2 hours from Grand Junction, which is about 4 from Denver. And talk about a gorgeous drive!!!

    1. Thanks John. This Chicago gal was very uncomfortable in this environment twenty some years ago, but now I’m in my element and loving it 🙂

  1. Such awe inspiring scenery, and you captured it beautifully, Ingrid. We’re making our way west now, and are regretfully leaving the Gulf coast behind, but it’s nice to know we’re headed back into a different, but equally wonderful landscape. Thank you for the reminder. 🙂

    1. Isn’t the diversity fun? I now have a list of places I hope to return to time and again. Utah for landscape photography and the Gulf Coast for birding 🙂

  2. Wow, Ingrid! Makes me want to hurry up and get there! I know there’s a lot to see between here and there. Trying to slow down and enjoy the ride. Your pictures are stunning! -Sally

  3. Loved it there! Between Canyonlands and Arches, it felt like we had traveled to Mars. The Grand Canyon left me speechless too.

    1. I couldn’t agree with you more. The area around Moab is jaw dropping. I think Utah needs to become a regular stopping point for us 🙂

  6. Nature’s grandeur never fails to leave one speechless, particularly out west (a biased view I know). You have nailed it for this challenge Ingrid…truly gorgeous images. 🙂

    1. I think you would be in total awe to see this place first hand. Unfortunately not a lot of birds to photograph though 😉

    1. Maybe it’s time to get out that trailer….biggest obstacle is crossing miles and miles of nothingness in NV, but then again that too could be interesting 😉

        1. Ah, then you’ve most likely traveled the ‘loneliest Hwy in the America’ Hwy 50 through NV. My brother and his wife have a great little trailer that he pulls with a F150 that they love. Lots of cute ones out there.

    1. The Grand Canyon is awesome. Keep a close eye on your girls as there’s no railings. FYI….not sure how easily your girls bore, but my hubby was bored by day two 😉

  7. My husband and I drove across the country when we moved. What I loved about areas like this was the pure silence. Not even the sound of leaves blowing by! I loved it! Thanks for sharing these images!

    1. The first time I laid eyes on these red rocks and canyons was during our cross country move as well (Chicago to Las Vegas). It was quite a sight for this Midwestern gal and still remains a spectacular sight.

  8. Great shot of that giant ditch. I really enjoyed Canyonlands but didn’t see the middle shots so assume they may be the Needles area.

    1. Nope, all photos were taken at Island in the Sky. You just needed a little walking to get to the rim to view. Had to laugh at your ‘ditch’ comment…..that’s what my hubby refers to the Grand Canyon as “a big ditch” LOL.

  9. We are on our way, and so looking forward to this area of Utah. Next week starts our trip through the Utah National Park system starting with Zion. Wish I had a decent camera. Love the title and so appropriate.
